You will find out soon enough that’s its a good thing your starting now…If you wait 6 months before, you may lose your mind.
Personally i think the earlier the better!!! organisation is a great thing, well done!
one month before the date of marraige
Start as soon as you can trust me it takes a lot of money and STRESS! But its all worth it at the end. Have fun:)
It’s always best to start at least 8 months ahead of time with the planning. A year can be a bit too early especially since you don’t know if the engagement will last or if it will break. Things happen. You don’t want to plan a big wedding and then something happens in the middle of that plan….you might end up wasting thousands of dollars. I think just looking at some simple books and getting some designs in your head is a good start for now. But don’t do it too late. My best friend got married 3 months after she got engaged and honestly, we were rushing to get the cards out to everyone, finding a hall, booking caterers and all that good stuff. 8 months before is adequate enough time to start preparing. Just keep your options open for now and keep looking around for better halls, and ask around for wedding ideas. Trust me……a year is way too early to start booking things, buying dresses, etc. What if you find better looking dresses and better tasting cakes and you already got your dress altered or your cakes done a year before? You may not be able to return things again or make new orders. Cakes and dresses can always be bought a few months before the wedding. Get a banquet hall early though and the invitations – those should be done at least 6 months before the wedding date and try to plan the wedding date around the time the banquet hall will be free. But send out the invitations like 2 months before the actual wedding date.
You aren’t wrong in starting early but I think a year before the wedding is a bit too early. Try doing it 8 months before the wedding…..give yourself a few months to shop and look around for great bargains and ideas you might like for your wedding.
Start now. The biggest months for weddings are March-June and September-November. Because of this I’ve had to change my date because I caught hell trying to find the right locations. Timing is everything when it comes to your wedding. The first three things you should do is, pick your dress, ceremony location, and reception location.
I started my planning 8 months before my big day! I would say your getting a little ahead of yourself though.
i don’t think you should just shove your wedding so early. have you made a wedding plan? it is always good to do a wedding plan first
I think your fine, i meanyour what a lil over a year and a half til the wedding I would just sit on the dress decisions and then also wait on the cake, you could chage your mind. I would just book halls and then wait til about 8 months before the wedding and order all the favors and dresses and cake and stuff. Just because your mind does change, and businesses do close, and you can change your taste however you can have everything picked out completely before then just wait to ordder.
mines in june of 09 and im wanting to start booking and buying, but were both broke right now because his school and im trying to buy a car. otherwise i would be out there too, plus even tho we have the date set it could move forward or back a little bit dependign on the situation with money when we get to one year before.
But were both superexcited and eager to start.
You started at a wonderful time! Don’t let anyone tell you your nuts! The earlier you start booking the more your chances are that you will get what you want. All those things go really fast, its a wedding not a birthday party, everything has to be perfect am I right? I am the same way, I started booking about a week after he asked haha!
its a good thing you already started with some details coz later on when you need to change something, there will still be time. about 7 months average that you will plan your wedding. but earlier than that, its okay.
If you want the venue, the date, the baker, the photographer, etc that YOU want – - it is always best to book early.
I am planning for a long engagement and while we haven’t firmed up the date, we are looking at roughly 2 years from now.
I am investigating venues and churches because when we pick the date, I want to get that date and not have to change it because someone else beat us to it. Also, in my case, I have family that would be forced to travel – some from out of the country -, I am planning to send "save the date" cards approximately 1 year before the wedding.
Planning is never a bad thing.
A tip a friend & recent bride gave me: do as much as you can as soon as you can so you aren’t running around at the last minute panicking. And to avoid famly squabbles, tell people stuff is all set, even if it isn’t.
No I think it’s completely fine to start planning early. Thorough and well though out planning should make for a smoother wedding and gives you lots of time to get things just how you want it. I am getting married in November next year and have booked everything except the cake maker. I have done so much I am well ahead of schedule. Now all I am attending to is the reception and thinking about what I am doing with the decorations at the moment. I have thought and decided so much. Like I have chosen and paid off some of my wedding dress, booked everything else. But doing all of this now means before the wedding, there should be nothing much for me to do and nothing to stress over so hopefully the wedding will be as close to perfect as possible. Having this long to plan means you can give more attention to finer details like the reception tables and things you normally wouldn’t think much about. Good luck!
We had a 6 month engagement and started planning straight away as we had such a short engagement. I do not think that booking things like caterers and photographers as early as you have is stupid at all, I think it is very wise actually, if you leave it too late you’ll end up with the dregs!
I say the sooner the better we got engaged on Christmas Day 2006 and decided around May 2007 that we were going to get married May 2008. We started saving money and telling people and booking some things as well. I say the sooner the better. You don’t want to be too close to the date and be stressing yourself out doing last minute things.
I have 3 1/2 months to plan my wedding. Every thing is getting done without a rush. The only thing I would say is to start 6 months before your wedding because of the dress. If the store you go to doesn’t have it on hand they have to order it and it can take awhile. You really do have plenty of time.
Start now, I started my wedding planning early and its not till late Au guest. The best thing of it started it early stress free with the financial and my hall and DJ,video, and also my photography is booked. My wedding dress have a 12 month layaway plan but the bridal party getting their dresses until 6 months before the wedding.
I was engaged a year and 4 months before my wedding and I started planning it the minute that I had a ring on my finger. Honestly, it made it easier. I had my dress bought and it was in my hands 5 months before the wedding. Everything was finished by 3 months before my wedding, which was good because we hit some snags (like my wedding officiate had a heart attack and my flower shop was burned in a fire…no joke) but i wasn’t worried about other things so I was able to focus on the things that went wrong and not everything else.
